  1. POSITION SUMMARY

As a senior secretary in Corporate, this role sits within the Corporate & Commercial Group (C&CG) and will assist Senior Lawyer and Group leader Chris Clarke in the Corporate team, which provides advice and transactional services predominantly in connection with mergers and acquisition and capital markets, both in the public and private spheres.

 

The role of the senior secretary is to provide hands on specialist legal secretarial support and services to lawyers in the C&CG as well as to assist in management of the team, including business development, supervision and management of legal support team members and practice administration.

 

  1. Main Responsibilities
  • Carrying out high quality legal support to the C&CG team in terms of client relationships and matter management including:
    • Opening & closing files
    • Document production and comparison
    • Billing
    • General legal support
  • Assist with business plan implementation, business development opportunities and co-ordination of events and proactive engagement with clients including attending key group events
  • Assist with management of team members
  • Manage and co-ordinate C&CG team workflows
  • Comprehensive diary management
  • Adhoc projects including overseeing and ensuring delivery of outcomes

  • High attention to detail and superior management skills
  • Persistent and ensures delivery of delegated tasks overcoming any hurdles
  • Supports and provides assistance in developing strategic client/referrer relationships and networks
  • Able to lead, mentor and coach support staff through provision of constructive feedback and ensuring their effective utilisation in the group
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients and staff across all channels
  • Strong commitment to client service and managing client relationships
  • Shares information and contributes to the dissemination of knowledge across the team
  • Contributes to internal processes and Watson Mangioni events (e.g. CPD activities, business development initiatives and staff functions)

  • Substantial knowledge in areas of expertise
  • Maintains a high level of understanding of the Watson Mangioni systems and procedures
  • Monitors debtors and assists in collections

 

  1. QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & RELEVANT EXPERIENCE
  • A sound working knowledge and experience in private legal practice operations and procedures surrounding the delivery of high quality advice and transaction services of a corporate and commercial nature
  • Have proven team management skills
  • Have exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Be proactive and forward thinking
  • Be agile and willing to learn
